What I Wore: Skirt Cape

I got this linen dress from Cheryl, of the handed down Doc Martins. It’s a shift style that just looks strange on my body shape. Shift dresses flatten out my boobs and put emphasis on my gut, which is missing the requisite ass meat to balance it’s sadly hanging equation. Despite these things, I love this dress. It’s so comfortable, I adore a nice soft linen, it’s such a perfect color (it’s slightly more burnt-orangey than it appears in the pictures), and even though it under-emphasizes my chest, I love the little wrappy thing the neckline does.

I keep trying to think of ways to not look like I’m smuggling half an inner tube around under my awesome linen dress. Today I tried the skirt cape. I kind of like it. I hadn’t realized how straight up and down I look until after the pictures were taken, and I think there’s an argument for wearing the skirt cape higher up next time I employ this method. But overall, I feel like this was a really fun outfit. Yeah, I went against every fat girl rule ever and completely washed out my “curves” by choosing these lines, but I enjoy the squareness, so fuck fat girl rules.
