What I Wore: Fire Engine

Whenever I try to be sexy, I end up looking like I have a developmental disability. In all of these pictures, I have a splitting headache. Most of them are of me taking my clothes off because I feel miserable and want to get into bed. Can anyone tell me why the sexiest pictures I’ve ever taken are of me in horrible pain? Oh well. The headache is gone now and I look amazing in these.

Okay, so maybe this one doesn’t look so great, but it’s the only one Ben got of the whole outfit before I started undressing.

What I Wore: Skirt Cape

I got this linen dress from Cheryl, of the handed down Doc Martins. It’s a shift style that just looks strange on my body shape. Shift dresses flatten out my boobs and put emphasis on my gut, which is missing the requisite ass meat to balance it’s sadly hanging equation. Despite these things, I love this dress. It’s so comfortable, I adore a nice soft linen, it’s such a perfect color (it’s slightly more burnt-orangey than it appears in the pictures), and even though it under-emphasizes my chest, I love the little wrappy thing the neckline does.

I keep trying to think of ways to not look like I’m smuggling half an inner tube around under my awesome linen dress. Today I tried the skirt cape. I kind of like it. I hadn’t realized how straight up and down I look until after the pictures were taken, and I think there’s an argument for wearing the skirt cape higher up next time I employ this method. But overall, I feel like this was a really fun outfit. Yeah, I went against every fat girl rule ever and completely washed out my “curves” by choosing these lines, but I enjoy the squareness, so fuck fat girl rules.

What I Wore: Fuck You Towel

Because:

I bought this dress yesterday at Forever 21. I hadn’t been in a Forever 21 since it was a shitty strip mall store that sold booty shorts and hoop earrings. I honestly hadn’t thought about the brand in years, but then all these cute outfits started popping up all over real life and the Internet, all from Forever 21. I especially took note of their fat girl clothing line, Faith 21.

So while I was at the mall waiting for my car to get an oil change, I stopped into Forever 21 and picked up this sweet dress, some 95 cent socks and a pair of ridiculous heels I will never ever be able to walk in. I got out of there for under $50.

It has pockets!

What I Wore: Muffet of the Mountain

I thought of this name as soon as I finished putting this outfit together. I was overjoyed. A man in the elevator at work told me I had a cute outfit and then asked me if I was in a play. I said “No, I just dress like this.” It was awesome. I got compliments all day. This is probably one of my favorite outfits, the only thing I’m sad about is that the camera was dead, so we’re stuck with cell phone pictures. I really wish there were better pictures of my sweet leg warmers.

What I Wore: Dr. Plum

This would have been the outfit that I wore yesterday, but yesterday I worked from home and didn’t take off my PJs the whole day. And yes, that means that I would have been wearing purple on gay spirit day, which I know does absolutely zylch to affect real change for the queers it purports to assist, and instead it is used to assuage the liberal guilt of gender-normative straight people who you’re not going to find sticking their neck out for their queer friends and family members when it really matters, but here they are when there’s no consequence for wearing purple. However, I’m not one to be left out, and it’s an excuse to wear purple.

I went to the doctor today for my annual check up. I got a combo whooping cough and tetanus shot since there’s apparently whooping cough going around, and I walk barefoot in the mornings so in case I step on something, I’ll be alright. There’s where the nurse stuck me.

What I Wore: Unsatisfying Vest

I really need to undo the clasps on this vest and sew them back on a little farther away from the seam. Then maybe it will be better. But I honestly don’t have a lot of faith in it, it’s just not well cut.
